The BBC recently reported that Russian bombers have landed in Venezuela. As you may recall, we don't exactly have a great relationship with their dictator- Hugo Chavez.

The US relationship with Russia has also soured recently with the whole Georgia/Russia conflict and seem to be distancing ourselves further and further from Russia.

Now with Russia putting bombers in Venezuela, it brings back memories of the Soviet placing missiles pointed towards the US. Russia is also pissed that the US is putting a missile defense system in its neighboring countries. I believe this is a direct retaliation to that action.
